Married at Duns Castle with Lego, Eagles and Connect-Four

There are certain weddings where I internally shout “YESSSSS” because the couple are doing whatever-the-heck-they-darn-well please.  When R+D chose to get married at Duns Castle, they knew wanted a different sort of day.  They wanted one of their best friends to marry them.  Rosie wanted to walk down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme song, which she absolutely killed.  (It’s a stunning piece of music btw!) They wanted to incorporate their love of games, Lego, fun and general silliness – and of course laughing.  The one thing that R+D do not stop doing is laughing and it’s totally infectious in the best way possible.

Guests never had a chance to be bored, they kept everyone guessing, wondering what was going to come next!   The drinks reception was one of the most entertaining I’ve ever been to. There was archery, cross bow and air rifle practice – something almost all the guests had a shot with.  But best of all, the team from Elite Falconry was on hand to give a demonstration with their incredible flock of birds of prey.  From hawks to eagles, guests had the chance to get close and personal with some absolutely massive and majestic birds.

Dinner was again a truly personal affair with big bowls of Lego for guests to create their own table centrepieces and tiny sets of connect-four and other games to keep both young and old entertained.  Shout out to the gentleman who created a toaster that actually “popped” the toast!  (I think he missed his calling).
The night ended with the most epic dance party downstairs with everyone up and having a bit of a boogie!  I left a couple who couldn’t possibly be having a better time, and that my dears – is a successful wedding!
