Married at Balmule House

As an Edinburgh wedding photographer prepping for a wedding, I can’t help but nervously watch the weather… despite being notoriously hard to predict in Scotland, nothing gives me a little thrill like seeing the happy little sun icon on my weather app.   I have to say, this day was totally unexpected!   I was fully prepared for grey skies and the odd shower, and we were bathed in sunlight, deep blue skies and puffy white clouds for the entire day.   If hadn’t have been so warm out, you may have mistaken this late August wedding day for a glorious autumn day in September.  We were all ready for J+G to be married at Balmule House!

Enough about our lucky weather – meet Jen + Graham!  I first met these two last year at their gorgeous flat in Glasgow.  Jen, a lawyer and Graham an accountant, met while playing tennis several years ago and never looked back.  Both sporty and down to earth, their equally easy going manner makes them a perfect match!  [A bit of lame tennis humour, apologies…]

I had the chance to get to know them better at their engagement shoot in the West End of Glasgow, and I was charmed by their obvious love for each other.  Spending time with them is enough to give anyone serious #relationshipgoals!

J+G’s day began getting ready at Jen’s family home and Balmule House respectively.  I can see why Jen wanted to start her day here at home, her family are so lovely and welcoming and this wonderful home is obviously special for the entire family.

First look

Their first look at each other was at Largo and Newburn Parish Church where minister Jane Barron conducted a very personal and beautiful ceremony, combining their faith with a warm welcome for everyone who came to see the happy couple tie the knot.  Guests then made their way to the elegant and secluded Balmule House where a gorgeous garden marquis was set up in the gardens of the main house, waiting to welcome everyone with delicious drinks and canapes from St Andrews Event Catering.

The entire day was about family, good friends, fun and celebrating – from the excellent food to the moving speeches and onto some pretty epic dancing with music from awesome ceilidh band Callanish, the day was a complete success!  Makes you really want to get married at Balmule House!  🙂

Join me in wishing the new Mr & Mrs Neill a long and very happy life together.   Congratulations Jennifer + Graham!
