Florida native Eric, first got in touch with me a few months ago – excited about the prospect of proposing to his non-suspecting long time girlfriend, Heather on their upcoming trip to Scotland. Cue the excited squealing from me! Although the proposal itself was a private affair, high above the world in the castle’s iconic ‘Minstrel’s Gallery”, I joined these two high school sweethearts outside the castle gates shortly after. Heather barely had any time at all to process what had just happened! Good on her though, despite having just come off a transatlantic flight, proposed to in the most romantic way possible and then told she was about to have a photoshoot… she handled it like a total pro. Needless to say, they were both thrilled, excited and obviously head of heels in love with each other.
Although Eric and I had been chatting a bit over email, I really enjoyed getting to know these two better over the course of the afternoon. We spent some time at Edinburgh Castle and then made our way down the Royal Mile towards Calton Hill – a favourite photography spot of mine and actually suggested by Eric himself who’d seen some of my other shoots there. It was a great call! From the fantastic views across the city to the more intimate spaces surrounded by hundreds of years of history, it was a great spot for their first day in Scotland and some pretty magical memories to share with everyone back home. Heather + Eric had an epic trip planned for the rest of their time away – from seeing more of Scotland to hopping over to Ireland it was going to be a hectic next few days for them. I was so honoured that I got to be the first to congratulate them both and welcome them to Scotland! xx
