I have been looking forward to this wedding for a long time. I could see that Gayle had a keen eye for detail but I was absolutely blown away with Kirknewton House Stables when I arrived to photograph their wedding. Gayle + Stephen had thought of everything, from the beautifully hand lettered chalk boards to the stunning table centrepieces; it was rustic barn-chic raised to another level completely.
A romantic curtain of twinkle lights framed the alter, hand built pieces of furniture crafted by the bride’s father showed off romantic floral arrangements and guests were treated to a custom bar filled with the couple’s favourite drinks including the home brewed “The Hoppy Couple”! It was absolutely delightful and you could tell as soon as you walked into the converted stables that this wedding was a special one.
There are probably too many favourite moments for me to mention them all, but things that stick out were Stephen’s face as Gayle walked down the aisle. His tears said it all, he was totally overcome with emotion – which in turn made me tear up as well! Also, Gayle’s lace trimmed veil and Jenny Packham shoes did actually give me shivers. And also their bright orange vintage camper van! And their cake. The list is endless.
I have to admit, the weather wasn’t the greatest in parts – we did get a little bit of rain. (But as someone wisely once told me, ‘a wet knot is a tight knot’. And that is absolutely true). During our couple session in the grand gardens of Kirknewton House, we managed to get some romantic shots underneath a flowering tree, right before the rain came down. Luckily, we were able to shelter in the drawing room of the main house and I’m so glad we did. Gayle, sat in the window looking out at the rain in her incredible cathedral length veil is a sight I won’t soon forget. (Luckily, either will you – I got a photo or two obviously!)
I hope you enjoy this little teaser of their day. If you’re planning your own wedding day, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me here. There’s nothing that I love more than a cup of tea and chat about weddings.
